The Clapping Craw is a simplified crawfish or crawdad pattern I put together using a variety of techniques. The simplicity behind the pattern is that the specialty spreading of the claws or slicked down back is not required to have a successful crawdad fly. When crawdads move through the water they pull their pinchers together making a streamline shape more like a leach than a traditional crawfish look. The fact of the matter is I don't believe the complexity of most crawfish flies is required. Give this one a shot and see for yourself.
