Though we all love watching the graceful sips and powerful slaps that dry fly fishing offers we also all know the fish aren't always looking up. That's when you must, key word must, fish nymphs, san juan worms, scuds, sowbugs, this, that, and midges. I'm talking about the little, annoying flies that cost you money because your sausage fingers drop them so much. These are the flies you use to catch the fish, maybe not the flies you told your buddy you were using. None of us want to be crucified by the dry fly community for actually trying to catch fish on a brisk winter day. But in case you're interested, here's a few patterns to try.
